How do I cite my sources?

Answer

For information on how to cite your sources in a specific citation style such as Chicago, APA, or MLA, see our Citing Sources guide.

If you aren't able to answer a citation question on your own, we encourage you to connect with your instructor or a Librarian (in person, by appointment, chat, text, email).

Quick Tip for Getting Started

The Library Catalog and many of our databases provide citations that you can copy and paste into a bibliography or works cited.  Look for the "Cite" option and then choose the citation style that is required for your assignment such as Chicago (Notes - Bibliography) and then copy and paste the citation into your Google or Word document.  Note: Database-generated citations may not always be correctly formatted or contain the correct source information.
